Re: Making a sword grip.

R.D. i would sugest Tite bond 2 or 3. 3 being the best as it is water proof. cost about the same as other wood glues. and i have used them myself on my swords. also a great glue for sheild peices and bow making too.

Re: The offcial deer hide thread!

That has been one of the handiest books in my library. when you read it if you try to substitute ranger with mountainman you can see the utility of it.(course you still have to get out and do, but that is where all the enjoyment is.)

Re: How do I shim a guard?

Windlass swords are pretty good for the money. i have owned several, they do tend to make the slit in the cross a bit big, though on their threaded blades it is a bit easier to fix. of course del tin blades aslo tend to have loose crosses as well. nice redo by the way, lookes good.

Re: Cloaks

I think each person has to make modifacations based on thier surroundings, so their gear works best for them. i do like the button hole idea as it would stand out less than a big ole slit. ( may be time for a new cloak, lol).

Re: Cloaks

i made a full circle cloak using the instrustions on Andy's site, i reconciled my quiver problems with a slit placed at the small of my back and covered with a flapp. so far it works good, for that problem, still can't go into heavy scrub though.
