Re: What's everyone working on?
I ordered the Strider sword (without much forethought) and when it showed up it was a lot longer and heavier than expected and hanging it from my belt doesn't seem all that reasonable. How are you hanging it? If you want to wear it on your belt there are various suspensions that can distribute the ...

Re: What's everyone working on?
I have a problem with starting too many projects, then the old "I'll get back to this" turns from days to weeks and inevitably to a box of partially completed stuff that's been sitting around way too long. So right now I'm trying to focus on a water skin and sword baldric. I read a lot of ...

Re: Type of Leather
Don't have any experience with coats, but I do work with leather. Cowhide should be tougher and generally thicker as long as you are going with full grain and not suede. I've not used goat skin before, but it's usually advertised as for it's softer more delicate texture. If by weather resistance you...

Re: Strider coat colour
In the LOTR behind the scenes Ngila Dickson (the costume designer) refers to it as licorice green. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mdaYOovyneI (about 5:09), also some really great close ups before and after that timestamp for reference.

Re: "Unpacked" Video Series
Nice, looks like a great bit of kit. I especially like that iron pot, has a lot of character in it's design.

Re: An Icelandic vararfeldir
Very nice, would definitely like to hear how it performs. Seems like it would wick water away from you really well. Also has some ghillie suit like qualities to it, if draped over your head and shoulders to break up that outline I imagine it would be rough to spot you in the wild.

Thank you, no just a basic "celtic" knotwork with a border on both sides. Used an edge groover for the border lines, then a roller with the knotwork pattern.

Re: First post... First piece of kit
Thanks to everyone for the support and warm welcome. Ioda - I think you're right a space blanket would be a wise addition. ForgeCorvus - If you 3D print - the stamp was super easy, cura lets you open greyscale jpg images and turns them into stamps automatically (black for stamp - white for base). It...

First post... First piece of kit
I decided for my first piece to make a Needs-Wallet. 7in wide x 3.5in tall x 1.5in deep, made of 7-9oz veg tan. 3D printed a stamp for the star, after searching through posts here and the rest of the web I decided to go with a variation of Earedil's banner. After thinking about what to put in it (si...
