Loon: Your red cap can be worn in different ways. Pulled down over one ear or the other beret style, smoothed flat to the head down over both ears (thats a pretty good one in the rain), pulled forwards into a flatcap type peak (thats how Fandabidozy wears his bonnet), raked backwards to cover the na...

Re: Dwarven Naming conventions
In the modern day it might simply be best and easiest to establish your own signant stamp to put next to your name. Something unique to you and your family. I guess that the ionite family bu8isness would probably have something along those lines, however (after having abandoned responsibility with ...

Re: First post... First piece of kit
From what I've read on here, the Need Wallet was a sealed 'survival pack' so you wouldn't be opening it except in a life or death situation. Because your Persona would never open it where better to stash the non-Character stuff that you may need ? Nice bit of leather-work BTW I really like the 'cord...

Re: Rugged Silk?
I've worn a silk shirt as a base layer under my canvas arming coat and brigandine, its cooler (or at least more pleasant) then a linen shirt of the same cut and roughly the same weight. The same Character* had a split veil made of the same fabric which was also much nicer to wear while fighting on s...

Re: Rope soled boots
Great work, very inventive. I've seen some indications that small river stones have been attached with some sap pitch. Maybe combining rope and sap and stone some ancient cleets could be made that would last longer. I can't imagine a thousand years ago they wouldn't have thought of traction as they...

Re: Leathercrafting cord-work
A thin kidskin or pigskin would give you those needle-sharp lines on the red pouch.... I think that uses sheepskin going by the pore pattern Really thin wood (like a shingle for example) is easier to cut then really thick leather. I'd like to try something like rawhide for edging, it stands up to Vi...

Re: Some assorted Dúnedain ceramics
I'll see what I can do.
It doesn't hold much (it is more goblet then tankard), so I'm assuming you'd of used it for the stronger stuff rather then smallbeer (or rather smallmead)

Thanks Elwindil, you do know you're enabling my addiction to old steel don't you.
I dread to think what the value of the contents of my workshed is.

Orcs of all types would drink 'English Lager', ice-cold, fizzy and the colour of urine (but with less taste).... Ghastly stuff that shouldn't be allowed to call itself beer. Porter for Dwarves (no rude comments about Stout beers for Stout folk please)...... Liking the sound of Hrum. Gulli: Mukhuh ta...

Re: Some assorted Dúnedain ceramics
A friend of mine lost a really nice Wars of the Roses Period living history cooking vessel because her boyfriend splashed red wine on the pot roast cracking the ceramic. She'd had it for several years and that was one of her favorite meals...... He nearly became an Ex at that event. I like the beaker...

Re: Dwarven Naming conventions
There are a few others. Off the top of my head Azaghâl king of the Broadbeams is one and Telchar of Nogrod is another though both those names are in the dwarvish tongue. D'oh, of course! My brain just naturally defaults to late Third Age since that's where we have the most information, especially f...

Dwarven Naming conventions
Seeing as I'm drawn so strongly to the short, wide and hairy characters in the books, I'm going to take the plunge and start to create a Persona. I don't currently have access to the Appendices (or any of the books.... Something I need to remedy soon) so I don't know if naming conventions are explai...
