Re: Dwarven Totem Animals/Nature

My vote is for Raven or crows... as a mountain dweller, crows alert you of danger, incoming people ect. All the wild boars do is wreck shit, muck up the watering holes and cause general mayhem. Ok, I'm confused. You say your vote is for raven or crows, but then you give such a compelling argument F...

Re: Leather Wrap Gaunlets.

Tom: UK law has no concept of defensive weapons, if you carry it in order to use it as a weapon its illegal. There are a few ways to carry blades and other tools that could be weapons.... But unless you live in the UK or are planning on trekking here as your persona its not something I need to bore ...

Re: FINALLY Fleshing Out a Persona

I like the thought-process here! Especially "Hobbit-friend". My one hang-up (and it is totally a personal one) is that Mickel to my ears sounds a little too Eastern European to my ears. Russian almost. Perhaps a stereotype but that's my first thought. Very nice for a Man of Dale but I'm n...

Re: Leather Wrap Gaunlets.

At what point do you carry too many knives? For fighting or travelling? I once LARPed as a siege- engineer/tunnelrat, the short blades were arranged so I could always reach at least one no matter what position I was in..... That might be a tad excessive though. I'm planning on the Highland trinity,...

I think any blade on the forearm says "Assassin", try the off-hand bicep or arm pit if you don't want a belt carry

Bats belong to 'The Other Guy'

I like boar....... A dog looks up to you, a cat looks down on you. But Pig looks you right in the eye.

Re: Lemme AXE you a question

Oh, are we doing axep0rn now?

I use a wooden wedge on new handles, if that loosens up at a later date I always have the option of a small transverse steel wedge...... But thats only if a soak in linseed oil doesn't fix it.

Re: Lemme AXE you a question

I've heard the friction-fit axes called "Drop-eye" axes I'm all for easy, carving two or three inches of wood to fit in a hole in a bit of metal is easier then carving 15 to 18 inches of wood to fit through a hole in a bit of metal. A notch and wedge isn't that hard to do even if you only ...

Re: First Impression

I wanted Barron to of grown up hearing tales of Lost Erebor, to of been an adult during the BotFA (but still young enough to make a rash oath) and to reflect my current age cool, so basically he would be at Erebor at the same time as Iodo :P Yes, he would of been one of those young brash idiots tha...

Re: First Impression

Cool ideas so far :P so does this place you... just before the War of the Ring ...or just after the battle of the five armies (as Iodo's timeline)? because there are 60 years between The Hobbit and The fellowship of the ring, so actually a lot of time for stuff to happen I wanted Barron to of grown...

First Impression

I wanted to post the small start I've made on my Persona (this will be a work in progress) and there doesn't seem to be a 'Whos who of MERF'. Meet Barron, son of Barris, son of Barr. Sometimes known as "Barron The Late" (though never to his face) and "Barron Blackcap" due to his ...

Re: Thoughts on Dwarven meat and cuisine?

I've always thought the diet would be based on things that do well on hill farms and crofts. So, mutton (sheep) and chevon (goat) with a little beef (as cattle don't do as well on really poor pasture). Maybe a few chickens for eggs, but rarely eaten as meat apart from the excess cockerels (this is b...
