Re: The Weather Wizard and the Sword

Re: Point of Curiosity, re: Snapsacks/Knapsacks

One of the other things I do is Napoleonic Redcoat. With us a Knapsack is a back pack and our single strap shoulder bag that we put food in is a Haversack (Haver means "Oat" BTW) An interesting side note is in the area my family come from (the main trades are mining and steel-working), Sna...

Re: Leather canteen recipe

Beeswax is less likely to crack or shatter then pitch, Pitch can stand higher temperatures without warping then beeswax Using a mixture of the two is supposed to give the best of both..... I've never tested this or seen any proof, so I can't say either way. That said, a wax saturated (rather then co...

For a linguist the Professor is mostly silent on profanity..... Probably due to his wanting to avoid the crude and the coarse. I'm pretty sure theres no blasphemy either. I've always used terms such as "Hell spawn" and "Misbegotten junk/lump" in LARPs where blaspheming against in...

Re: Middle Earth Cattle and Dairy Products

Bilbo describes himself as "stretched, like a pat of butter spread over too much bread".

Pippin (I think) gets given a small loaf and "an inadequate pat of butter" as breakfast during one of the seiges ( Minas Tirith, if Pippin ,,,, otherwise it would be Merry at Helm's Deep)

Re: What does everyone focus on?

Lance or hewing spear? Don't forget that a spear is not just the pointy end, you've got a staff and a club as well Technically a viking throwing spear, or at least that's what windlass called that particular spear head. I'm definitely going to be looking at staff drills, as well as spear drills. ht...

Re: What does everyone focus on?

I've been experimenting with a number of weapons, and am currently planning to focus on spear or spear and sword/dagger. Our local ranger group does some free sparring, and so far the spear is by far the best way to kill an opponent without suffering injury. I am almost completely self taught, and ...
