Re: Review: "Elfin" Rattan Recurve by Bows of the Risen Son

My daughter and I saw those at the Ren Faire some years ago and almost bought a couple but it was the end of the day and we were broke so passed. Most were being sold to kids with the 3-free-arrows. Plus: they look nice and being short easy to carry. Minus: They advertize these as the "Bow that...

Re: New Boots!

My father was a cowbow, lied about his age to join the marines durinjg WW-II so was in the days when he rode the range on a horse! He preferred boots that went above the ankle because if he got hit by a snake, it would hit him just about the ankle. BUT he never wore high boots as too heavy and no re...

Re: The Seven Habits of Highly Effective Vikings

Is this meant to be humorous? Because from a strictly historical perspective it's simply untrue. If it is just meant to be funny, apologies for it going over my head so to speak. I am fairly certain that the Vikings and other Norse peoples who specialized in raiding rarely held motivational seminar...

Re: CS Pole axe for trade

I'll try to remember to put a steel brush on my dril land work on the axe-heads this weekend. On my first tour to Arabia, MPF gave us (CE) a safe because they had lost the combination and asked us to cut it open. The specs from the manufacturer guaranteed that it would resist ANYthing for fifteen mi...

here is the set.
With all broadaxes, these are flat on the bottom. And being stored for decades, they do need to be cleaned a bit.
let me know what you think.

Re: My New Horsebow Kit

It is freakishly amazing what you can find in a thrift store.
i also found, for $4, a canvas mattress cover! Once I waterproof the thing, it will be a blanket-cover for trekking.

Re: My New Horsebow Kit

Next Phase Remember how I was’ happy with the leather covering? I was at a thrift store checking out some knitting accessories for my daughter and saw a couple cloth belts. They were woven black & white in a pattern I liked so I got them for 75 cents each. At home I stripped the backing and us...

My New Horsebow Kit

New Horsebow Sometimes I think that I keep GIBow http://www.gibow.com/store/ in business. But really, can you have too many swords and bows and kayaks and books? MREgi This pic (to be uploaded later when the website is fixed) is the horsebow kit I purchased from GI Bow a few months ago. It is 50#@28...

Re: New Lars Anderson Video

I LOVED the videos. Yes, the arrows flying from his quiver was funny but was put there to make a point. I've had the same thing happen to me, caught my arrows on a branch or lost them while running. This is why modern hunters tend to keep their arrows on a bow quiver. Yes, he is trick shooting. most...

Re: Sword scabbard suspension

I do not believe anyone posted this method (correct me if I am blind :p) it is a viking method I did not know of before until fiddled around with the strap that came on the sword I recently got and found that it fits over the shoulder allowing the sword to be held upright without dragging across th...

I did not like the white wraps so I added a black border. http://rick-johnsons-writings.webs.com/mer178.jpg http://rick-johnsons-writings.webs.com/mer179.jpg As best I could at this time, here are the stats: Length of blade: 35 1/4" Point of Balance: 2" max width of blade: 2 1/8" max ...

down under glove

http://search.3riversarchery.com/search#w=glove "Down Under Glove" I got my 3-rivers catalogue and saw this. So I immediatly sent the url to my daughter who had recently knitted me a set of paddling gloves (for kayaking, get your mind out of the gutter) and suggested that she make me one.
