It you have good boots leather boots....and take care to really work in sno-seal or summit like that.....you will be good..... Unless you cross a stream or summit..... If I think I am going to be in that situation...I dig deep into my bag....for "that" bag that contains my "non-period...

It's going to eventually mold. Period.

If you put it in an air tight container, it WILL rot!

I store mine in loosely wrapped brown paper and stored in a burlap bag....

Yes-It is sold in 2-3lb. pieces usually.....it keeps a LONG, LONG, LONG time......my piece is something like 6 years old and still fine.....if it gets mold...and it probably will.....scrub it down real well with white vinegar....just make sure it can BREATH though....or it will go rancid! Personally, I hope that Lagertha gets to be the one to take Auslag down a notch or five....I find her character irritating....I am definitely Team Lagertha!

It would be kind of awesome to see Lagertha head butt Auslag in the nose.....just sayin'.....

When I was heavy into 18thC reenacting, I always wanted to be seen as "common" and it is very much the same way now that I have stepped into my beloved Middle Earth. As Udwin pointed out, the Dunedain are not common, either in number OR skills. They are the SF Operators of ME...great analo...
