Re: Renaissance Faire Rendezvous
Well, dang, AR, you and I should really get together for...well, something or another... I work up in Washington and could actually drop by for lunch. I know, because I've done that. Granted, it was a quick lunch...

Re: Ranger Games
Rudolf the longbow ranger Had a very lengthy bow. And in the thickest forest It would make him travel slow. All of the other rangers used to curse and call him names. They never let poor Rudolf Join in any Ranger games! Then at the battle of the Black Gate, From two hundred yards away. Ruldof shot a...

Re: Ranger Games
While I was still in the Corps (mumble, mumble) years ago, we spent some time in Norway, with their Brigade North. While there, we got a chance to participate in their testing for the Norwegian Infantryman's qualification. It was basically a 17 klick run, carrying rifle. At the beginning of the cour...

Re: Qustion for arrow makers???
FWIW, I used to get my fletching supplies from FS Archery. They sell the shafts spined to within 5 lbs. And, yes, make sure the points you get match the diameter of your shafts. Same thing with nocks, if you're not doing self-nocks.
I love the smell of cedar in the morning. Smells like archery!

Re: Need-wallet
Interesting. I would take a page from general buckskinners, or possibly longhunters. Two bags, really. A "necessaries" pouch, which never leaves your person, and a "possibles" bag, which may be separated. Just a matter of degree. The necessaries (or maybe necessities?) bag, the s...

Heh, yes. Very much.
Also: Losers bleed. Winners gush.
But my favorite is still from Talhoffer: Now they take up the dagger. May God preserve us all!

Re: Steltonwald War Practice
Oh, I do understand. I've done that before, as well. You did miss a good bit of silliness, though. Walked into court as part of the precessions, carrying a fire extinguisher at present arms. Chris and Morgan nearly fell off their thrones from laughing so hard. The Pelican in question might be consid...

Re: Knife Suggestions?
Well, if you're talking general tasks, you should decide what those tasks are. The D-Sis is good for some small work, obviously. Larger work would be, what, chopping wood, or rather breaking it down to smaller pieces? Cutting rope? I'm just drawing a blank here. But use that as your guide. If you're...

Ah, sorry I missed you there, Beornmann.
Shiro told me you were around.
I did find your shire people, though. Friendly group.

Re: Steltonwald War Practice
Yeah, I'll be day tripping as well. Don't plan to stay overnight unless John Barleycorn wins the round. Fellow by the name of Robert Marston, of Yama Kaminari (sp?). He's a squire to the once and future king, Christopher Rawlins. He's getting his Pelican. For those not in the SCA, it can be thought ...

Steltonwald War Practice
Once again, I find myself back at an SCA event, this time because a good friend is receiving a major honor. Just found out about it today, so it's major short notice.
That being said, are there any here who are likely to be at the Steltonwald War Practice on the 21st of May?
